Fitness Resolutions are easy to keep in Savannah
We Savannahians appreciate being able to walk or bike just about anywhere. If you have the ability and opportunity to walk or bike somewhere instead of drive, take it. This little step may add a few minutes to your day, but it can help cut a few inches from your waste line if you keep it up.
We also have enough squares, parks and green spaces to rival the biggest metropolis—no one has squares quite like Savannah! One New Year objective can be to walk to all the Savannah squares in one day. This is a fun and totally feasible goal, with just 24 squares in Downtown Savannah. Pack a lunch, put on your walking shoes and take a day to explore all of Savannah’s squares at once. Walking all the squares in one day will certainly earn you bragging rights!
If you’d like to find activity outside of Downtown, take a walk or ride on one of the many walking/biking trails in the area. Fort Pulaski and the McQueen Islands are home to many scenic trails—and the beach on Tybee Island is great for a morning jog! Take a look at our parks and trails listings to find a trail near you—and be sure to check out our interactive map.
Savannah is also home to many fine gyms and sporting centers—so no matter what your fitness resolution may be, Savannah has got you covered. Here's to good health and wellness in 2010!
