Hilton Head – For a Couple
You want to start the day off right by getting breakfast in Savannah before you head out. That way, you’ll be able to jump right in to your planned activities. So get a quick bite and hit the road!
Once in Hilton Head there are numerous options for things to do. If you both enjoy a good game of golf you can check out one of the many (and I do mean many) golf courses in the area. Of course, if golf isn’t really the lady’s idea of a good time, no problem. She can get some serious shopping done at the two Tanger Outlet Malls while he plays his favorite sport on a course conveniently located nearby. Hilton Head National Golf Club is positioned smack dab in the middle of Tanger Outlet I and Tanger Outlet II. With a great selection of stores including Coach, J. Crew, Ralph Lauren and more, spending a couple of hours shopping will be a piece of cake.
As soon as your shopping enthusiasm has worn down and the golf game has come to an end, you can meet back up and head on for a yummy lunch. Drive about 15 minutes east from the outlet malls and you can sit, relax and enjoy a great lunch at Bistro 17. Overlooking beautiful Shelter Cove Harbor, this casual bistro has a European flair. The lunch menu is sure to please you with delectable fare like the crabcake sandwich, baked brie and changing daily specials.
After you’ve finished your delightful lunch, you should visit the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. Located practically next door to Bistro 17 (ok not really, but less than a quarter mile), you won’t have to go far. This award-winning center features performing arts, visual arts and cultural festivals throughout the year. Even if you don’t want to get tickets for a performance, you can visit the galleries. Open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm, their exhibits change frequently.
Once your artistic craving has been filled, it’s on to one of the biggest attractions on Hilton Head Island, the beach of course! What better way to spend the afternoon than strolling the white sand dunes dipping your toes in the ocean? If you drive about five miles to Coligny Beach Park, off Coligny Circle, you’ll find public beach access. Feel the breeze, hold hands and just enjoy the breathtaking ocean. After you’ve shaken the sand from your shoes, take some time to walk around Coligny Plaza. There are lots of cute shops to wander through.
For dinner, head just two miles back the way you came and check out The Jazz Corner. A favorite spot for visitors and locals alike, this restaurant/club not only offers delicious food, but has live jazz music every night! The music starts at 8pm and reservations are highly recommended. To reserve in advance, it’s as simple as submitting a form on their website (www.thejazzcorner.com) or, for same day reservations give them a call at 843-842-8620. You’ll be be-bopping and scatting the whole ride home!
