St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, but the city has been preparing all year. The 186th Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Very few cities in the nation have celebrated an annual parade longer than Savannah, so whether you're Irish or just an Irish lover, join us for the wearin' o' the green this year! Whether it's your first or your fiftieth St. Patrick's Day in Savannah, prepare to experience one of the country's largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
Savannah first celebrated St. Patrick's Day in 1813. Our first parade, however, wasn't until 1825. 197 years and 185 parades under our belt, Savannah is preparing to make 2010 even more festive and green than ever! The party isn't just on River Street. Every inch of Savannah celebrates this annual event. You'll find green beer, grits and people throughout Historic Downtown Savannah--and you'll see green-spiritied folks all over town.
