In German, “Oktober” means “October” and “fest” means “party.” Oktoberfest began as a sixteen-to-eighteen day celebration in Munich, Germany. The original Oktoberfest in Bavaria is the largest fair in the world, and has been known to attract upwards of six million visitors. Traditional German dishes are served, as well as hundreds of gallons of Bavarian beer. The festival is so popular that it has spawned local versions all over the world, including our very own Savannah Oktoberfest!
The 27th Annual Savannah Oktoberfest is sponsored by: Verizon Wireless, Southern Eagle Distributing, Wet Willies, Coca-Cola, Wachovia, Wells Fargo, Repicci’s Italian Ice, and the Real Yellow Pages. For more information, visit riverstreetsavannah.com/events/oktoberfest.
