Lovin’ Spoons: A Sweet Snack to Beat the Heat
Lovin’ Spoons is a Savannah frozen yogurt shop with two locations, one in the Savannah Center shopping plaza on Abercorn, the other in Pooler Marketplace on Pooler Parkway.
These loving spoonfuls are comprised of a do-it-yourself mix of frozen yogurt and toppings. There are twelve different flavors of frozen yogurt at a time, from tame choices like vanilla to more adventurous fare like Island Banana and Pomegranate Raspberry Tart. (Don’t worry about trying new things; you can have as many free samples as you want!) Toppings range from the familiar—sprinkles, Oreo chunks, and maraschino cherries—to the exotic—ripe blackberries, cheesecake bites, and Captain Crunch.
I got Cake Batter frozen yogurt with pulverized Heath Bar, strawberries, and a maraschino cherry on top (the classics are classic for a reason.) I was impressed by how thick and creamy the frozen yogurt was, more like a traditional ice cream—but with none of the fat and half the calories! The sweet frozen yogurt soaked up the strawberries’ extra juices, and their flavor, turning my concoction into a summery, strawberry cake cooler.
The atmosphere is also—to abuse a pun—cool. It’s very clean and airy, and the theme is ’70s flower power: groovy, brightly colored flowers dot the white walls, and a vintage VW bug bursts through the wall to mingle with customers. The music is—of course—classic ’70s, setting a vintage ambience to the whole affair. Eating at Lovin’ Spoons is like going back in time for a snack.
Lovin’ Spoons also offers indoor and outdoor seating, frozen yogurt by the quart or pint, free wi-fi internet, and a private room for parties and meetings.
So why not check out Lovin’ Spoons for a sweet snack to beat the Savannah heat? You can visit the ‘70s for a while, and you won’t even need a DeLorean.
