Hundreds of people - no, thousands; 19,500 runners plus an estimated 49,000 spectators to be exact - were in Savannah for the first ever annual Rock n' Roll Marathon. Runners came from all 50 states as well as 20 plus countries, and 88% came from someplace outside of Chatham County. The overall winner, taking home bragging rights and a $1,000 cash prize, was Nathan O'Connell, a 20-year-old Junior at Kennesaw State University who covered the 26.2 mile race in 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 5 seconds.
If you missed it this year, there's always next year. San Diego based race organizing company, Competitor Group, has already started planning for Savannah to host the prestigious event for the next 4 years.
