Savannah - Kid Free
In order to get the most out of your day (and be able to keep going into the night) you have to start off with a good breakfast. Clary's, located on Abercorn and Jones, is great breakfast spot. Made famous in “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” this café is always buzzing and has some of the best food at the best prices in town. While you’re there, take a stroll down Jones Street; one of downtown Savannah’s most loved streets and admire the cobblestone and gorgeous houses.
After breakfast you can head down for a sightseeing tour on a trolley. On the corner of Liberty and MLK you’ll find Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah. Around for more than 25 years, these tours are filled with fun facts and first-hand tales from the local guides. Another plus with these tours is that you can hop off and on all day long at any of their stops. So feel free to get off and look around for a while if you want before hopping on the next trolley that comes along.
Once your tour is over take in the unique shopping downtown Savannah has to offer. Broughton Street is filled with boutiques and shops selling everything from clothing to furniture to jewelry. You can head over to City Market as well to browse the art galleries, studios and gift shops. Located one block north of Broughton in between Montgomery and Barnard, City Market also has some great restaurants. Check out Cafe at City Market for everything from soups and salads to grilled sandwiches and pizza.
After lunch head back to your hotel and grab your swimsuit and car for some beach time. Roughly 15 miles east of downtown Savannah is Tybee Island, nicknamed Savannah’s Beach. Tybee Island has several beaches with the most popular being South Beach, located at the end of Tybrisa Street. Here you will see the Tybee Pier and Pavilion where you can enjoy a cold beverage or snack. Remember to pack the sunscreen so you don’t get burnt and enjoy the cool water, soft breeze and sand beneath your toes.
Once you’ve had your fill of fun in the sun, head over to The Crab Shack, off of Highway 80, for a delicious seafood dinner. Known as the place where the elite eat in their bare feet, The Crab Shack is famous for their low country boils and great outdoor space. Be sure to check out the gator lagoon while you’re there.
After dinner, make your way back downtown for a Haunted Pub Crawl Tour. Unique to Savannah, these 2 hour walking tours have you pub and tavern hoping all over the downtown area. Learn why Savannah has been named one of the most haunted cities in the country and do it all while enjoying alcoholic beverages! That’s right, you can walk around downtown Savannah with a to-go cup. These tours happen nightly at 8pm starting from Moon River Brewing on Bay Street and 9pm starting from Molly MacPherson’s in City Market.
If you’re still raring to go after your Pub Crawl has ended, you’ll find a plethora of bars around the City Market area and on Congress Street. Check out some live music at The Jinx or boogie on the dance floor at The Bar Bar. If you’re looking for a more mature crowd, check out Jazz'd on Barnard. Whatever your “scene” you’re sure to find a bar to fit your taste.
