Summer Camps for Savannah Kids
Summer is right just around the bend and for those of you with a child, that means, “What do I do?” You have a full time job and don’t want to ship the kids off to a babysitter. You want to send them somewhere they are sure to have fun and learn, not just veg in front of the television. If you’d rather your children spend the summer growing and learning, I’ve got some suggestions for you.
Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Empire
This dedicated boys & Girls Club will have a summer program from June 11-August 12 (closed July 4), 9am - 5pm. The camp is open for children who have completed kindergarten up to twelve. Lunch and afternoon snacks are served, alongside plenty of brain and body stretching activities. $100 signs your child up for the entire summer. YMCAs of Coastal Georgia
The local YMCAs have a great summer camp planned this year, with the theme of getting wYld. Check below to see what each location in Coastal Georgia has to offer. There is a $35 registration fee if your child is not already a member of the YMCA. Camp fees are $82/week for members, $130/week for non-members. Camp lasts from 9 am – 4pm, with drop-off from 7-9 am and pick-up from 4-6 pm. YMCA summer camps last from June 14 until August 27 and are available for children ages 5-12 (unless otherwise noted). Summer Art Camp
Looking for a creative alternative for your children this spring and summer? Check out the City's Spring and Summer Art Camps. Camps held at Studio S.P.A.C.e. provide and opportunity for children to sample a range of artistic mediums, including painting, ceramics, metalwork, mixed media and performing arts in age-appropriate group settings. Campers can develop their talents while having a great time. There are ten sessions lasting from June 11-August 17, 2012, Monday thru Friday, 9am -- 5pm. Cost per child is $135 per week. SCAD's Rising Star Program
A pre-college program for rising high school seniors—The challenging five-week Rising Star program awards college credit to rising high school seniors who are ready for a summer college experience. Students may enroll in two college-level classes and have the opportunity to build or enhance their visual arts portfolios. Outside class, students complete assignments, take field trips, socialize, and enjoy area parks and other attractions. College housing and meals are provided. Students who successfully complete the Rising Star program earn college credit. Rising Star lasts June 23 - July 28, 2012.

SCAD Summer Seminars are residential or nonresidential summer workshops designed for high school students who have completed their freshman, sophomore or junior years. Through exciting educational workshops in Savannah and Atlanta, SCAD Summer Seminars promise a week you’ll never forget.
